Denise Journeaux

I have always been interested in art and sewing clothes, which led me to a wonderful creative textile City & Guilds 4 year course at Fareham College finishing in 1998. I followed this with an HNC in Fashion & Textile course. I taught interior design at the college for 10 years and I also teach freelance textile courses. This has all opened my creative thinking to new avenues of inspiration.

I love spending time at my sewing machine. My City & Guilds course gave me many exciting techniques to enjoy.  3D is a technique I love, hence my shoe collection. Needle felting is another of my new crazes. Being involved with other textile artists and enthusiasts gives me inspiration.

Gardening and textiles are my creative loves.  Many years ago I completed a City & Guilds course in embroidery and later a diploma in stitched textiles. I am at present using David Hockney’s painting ‘Nichols Canyon’ as inspiration for my work.
