I have stitched for many years but found doing a City & Guilds course in Embroidery opened up a whole new world. Although I tend to favour more traditional textiles I enjoy exploring new techniques and products. Recently I started an online sketchbook course, I’ve found it challenging but hope it will have a positive influence on future work.

I am also a member of a local Patchwork group.

Stitching is more of an obsession than a passion for me!  Since completing City and Guilds a good few years ago, I have experimented with various media and have enjoyed stitching on paper in particular.  In order to improve my design skills and art work I am currently following an on line sketchbook course with the Linda and Laura Kemshall, and I am sure this will influence my textiles in future.  It’s great being a member of Fimbria for the companionship and support we give and get from each other.

I have been a Bobbin Lacemaker since 1980 and a textile junkie since 1985. I am a founder member of FIMBRIA. My two creative loves - Traditional (white) Bobbin Lace and mad crazy City & Guilds (anything goes!) Creative Textiles.  It took some time, but I now use both together.  I create LetExist structures.  These incorporate contemporary bobbin lace techniques with outlandish textile skills. I still teach Bobbin Lace, Textiles and LetExist courses and that takes up time, however I love teaching and don’t think that I will ever be able to give it up completely. There just aren't enough hours in the day for everything that I want to create.

I have been interested in Needlework for as long as I can remember.
I love being creative and learning new techniques.
I did my City and Guilds embroidery course over 20 years ago and this opened my eyes to pattern and colour in so many ways.
I love time spent sat at my sewing machine and am now heavily into Contemporary Quilting, but I am equally happy with a bit of hand sewing on a cold winters evening in a comfy armchair.
I am a founder member of Fimbria and enjoy our monthly meetings where we share our  life and Textile Experiences.
